Mathew Bose who plays gay barman Paul Lambert in Emmerdale has anounced he is to leave the show, writes Paul Hunt.
Since the arrival of the character in the Dales drama, the 34-year-old actor his made the part his own with some extremely strong storylines.
Bose told Shout!: ‘I’ve had a brilliant time playing Paul but after four years, I have taken the decision to explore new projects. I have a huge amount of respect and affection for Emmerdale and my colleagues, all of whom I will greatly miss. This is a personal decision and one that I have agonised over for some time, particularly as the show has been so supportive of me. I’m grateful that the door will be left open for me to return in the future so this may not be the last we see of Paul.’
Bose will film his final scenes in the coming months before departing the Yorkshire village on screen in the new year.
Bose has been a strong supporter of the local lgbt community and participated in, amounst other things, the annual Drag Idol event - as a judge, that is!!
Shout! wishes him the very best for his future career.
