The Wakefield Pride not Prejudice committee received their award from The Duke of York at an award ceremony at Conisbrough on Wednesday 10th October, presented in recognition of the committee’s efforts to celebrate the cultural and ethnic diversity of the lgbt community in the region, and to challenge stereotypes and homophobia. It is the first time that any such award has been given to a gay Pride organising committee. The prince spent several minutes talking to the group after the ceremony and was very interested in the work that they do. Pictured is the chair of the group, Paul Wood, receiving the award from Prince Andrew.
