Leeds goes hardcore

Leeds has become the eighth city in England to get a licensed adult store for gay men. On the 4th April, the Licensing and Regulatory Panel of Leeds City Council granted Clonezone a Sex Establishment License enabling them to sell their full range of products, including R18 certicated DVDs, at their Leeds city centre store.

Leeds Store Manager, Jon Bishop explained: ‘Since opening in 2003 there has always been demand for R18 DVDs, and now we can satisfy it! We’ve been in Leeds for three years in May and this is a great anniversary present.

‘Our success wouldn’t have been possible without the help of over a thousand people who signed a petition and the many letters of support from the West Yorkshire lgbt community. We would also like to thank Yorkshire MESMAC and The Terrance Higgins Trust who Clonezone work with to promote sexual health in West Yorkshire; a partnership that is unique amongst adult stores.’

David Edwards, Sales and Marketing Director of Clonezone said: ‘It has always been our intention to stock R18 DVDs in the Leeds store. Receiving huge support for our petition to the council was astounding and clearly demonstrated local demand for this kind of product! It is important to regulate R18 retailers and being granted the license means that gay men can finally purchase DVDs locally and in a non-threatening environment.’

To celebrate the good news and to thank their supportive customers the store is currently running some exciting promotions with DVDs starting at under fifteen pounds.
