Gay Abandon, Leeds’ lgb choir, last seen at the Holocaust Memorial Ceremony at Leeds Town Hall, is offering a classically-themed afternoon at Leeds College of Music on Sunday 24th June from 3pm. The 60-strong choir, usually more familiar with music by the likes of ABBA, Dolly Parton and Queen, will perform Class Act, an afternoon of traditional and contemporary choral work. Offering something a little different, this concert endeavours to cater for all its audience’s diverse musical tastes and at only £9/£7.50 a ticket including a free glass of bubbly and strawberries it certainly reeks of class.
Including music by Samuel Barber, Robert Burns, Aaron Copland and John Coates, the concert will also include the world premiere of local gay composer Ian Akroyd’s Different Drummer and a revisit of David Fligg’s King David with soloist Jaime Hallam, an LCM graduate and former choir member.
The venue is fully accessible by wheelchair and the evening will be BSL interpreted. For more information visit the website, or phone the box office.
