Queer-bashers arrested at Leeds cruising ground

Following last month’s article detailing a series of attacks on gay men at the Canal Road/Armley Mills cruising ground, police have arrested a total of five men, reports Steve Mason.

Two have been charged with robbery and assault and remanded in custody. The others have been charged with the lesser offence of theft and bailed to appear at court on a future date.

All five fit the descriptions provided for offences - white males aged between late teens and early twenties.

Police still advise caution and urge anyone to come forward who may have been the victim of an as yet unreported, attack.

According to police, no-one has been charged or cautioned in connection with any public indecency matter.

Phone: The Pudsey Police Hate Crime Co-ordinators, PC Michelle Linney and PC Jon Cooper can be contacted on 0113 2395026/17. Alternatively, Steve Mason can be contacted in confidence on 0113 257 3854 or Leeds MESMAC on 0113 244 4209.
