Bradford's big proud summer
in the news
from June 2006

As if the Pink Picnic, Wakefield Pride, Leeds Pride and Sheffield Pride aren’t enough for us Yorkshire tykes, Bradford’s first ever Gay Pride event has received a boost with the appointment of a worker to help organise the festivities.

The Equity Partnership, which supports Bradford’s lgb communities, has made a successful funding bid to employ a temporary worker for Gay Pride. A programme of events are being organised, kicking off with Bradford’s first gay contingent in the Lord Mayor’s Parade on 1st July.

Sarah Cooper, Chair of The Equity Partnership, said: ‘Whether you want to dress up and parade the streets, host a street party or organise another event to express your Pride, there'll be something for everyone. Bradford’s going gay this summer.’

If you want to get involved, at any level from running an event to sticking on a single sequin, or you want more information about the events, contact The Equity Partnership (see below)

In a further development, The Equity Partnership has also obtained funding from Bradford’s Safer and Stronger Communities Partnership to employ a community development worker from October 2006. This post will enable more lgb groups and networks to be established and supported, and will increase opportunities for using the recently opened Equity Centre in Bradford.
