No, I’m talking about the German Christmas market in Leeds! (You and your dirty minds!)
The Christkindelmarkt on Millennium Square in Leeds was first established in 2002 to bring a bit of German tradition to Yorkshire. Being a half-German lassy myself - the smell of the gluhwein, bratwurst and pancakes wafting up my nose, and the sound of the Oompa band tootling away brings a little tear to me eye. There’s everything here - if you fancy doing a bit of Christmas shopping there are traditional wooden stalls decked in festive greenery and colourful lights, selling anything from jewellery and handcrafted toys to speciality foods such as sweets, gingerbread, stollen and German sausage.
If you’re a bit of an overgrown tomboy like the missus and me, then you might like zippin’ around on the dodgems and breaking your front teeth on the steering wheel, followed by a barf-inducing spin on the carousel and a titty-jiggling time on the bouncy-castle to finish. Or if that all sounds a bit too much like hard work for you, then the only part of your anatomy you need to exercise is your right (or left) arm, to down a few jars of finest German Bier in the Bier-Keller, whilst in the other hand stuffing a large bratwurst into your mouth.

The market runs from the 16th November until the 20th December, and is open Monday to Saturday from 10.30am-9pm, and Sundays from 10.30am-8pm. The Bier-Keller stays open until 11pm.
